The funeral service for Caleb L. Calhoun, 57, of Oxford, will be at 1 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place later.
Mr. Calhoun passed away July 23, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Calhoun was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He attended Munford High School and graduated from Cornerstone Christian Academy. Mr. Calhoun worked as a heavy equipment operator for 20 plus years. He loved the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, or riding the dirt roads singing country and gospel music. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his dogs.
Mr. Calhoun is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nellie Calhoun; brothers, James Albert Calhoun and Danny Calhoun; his mother- and father-in-law, E.W. and Linda Gregory; his grandparents, James Archibald and Goldie Mae Peek and Albert and Fanny Calhoun, and his infant grandchild, Carson Dewberry.
Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 33 years, Christy Calhoun; his children, Brittany Saume (Larry), Zachary Kelly (Liam), Cayli Sumer (Colton), Dacoda Calhoun (Catlyn), and Britney Dewberry (David); and grandchildren, Ava, Sophia and Isabella Saume, Otto Kelly, Enslee Calhoun, Chase and Chance Smith, Emma, Ethan and Reece Dewberry.
Pallbearers will be Larry Saume, Dacoda Calhoun, Zachary Kelly, Hunter Lyner, Tyler Edwards, Tyler Miller, Keeley Miller, and Cody Duran. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Short, Kenneth "Leg" Ford, Mike Gregory, Tony McBride, John McBride, Ray Sewell, and Chad Vice.
