All services are under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Calvin Arlen Andrew Alexander, a native of Bell, LA, former resident of Sorrel, LA, for forty-eight years, and a resident of Pollock for the last six years, was born January 1, 1939, and passed away on April 3, 2024.
He was born to Reverend T.C. Alexander and Mary Nell Alexander. He was married to Catherine Joe Delhomme, then to Carolyn Elaine Francois after Catherine's death.
"Paw-paw" (as he was affectionally called) was a career oilfield worker and electrician. His passion was guns; he bought, sold, repaired and collected them. Over the years, he acquired quite an impressive collection of old and unusual guns. He would look up and talk about the history of the guns he owned to anyone who was interested.
He was also very actively involved in his church at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Jeanerette. He was a Sunday school teacher and would have the young people over many times for gatherings, such as bonfires, wiener roasts and such. Later as a member of New Life Church in Ball, he (along with his wife, Carolyn) was the head of the Prime Timers Life Group. He was always interested in conversation, especially if it involved guns. He was affectionally loved by all he met and a source of inspiration due to his determination to live life. He loved to travel, and granny loved to drive, so they made quite the pair.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Joe Delhomme Alexander; his parents, Reverend T.C. and Mary Nell Alexander; his stepmother, Mabel Alexander; two siblings, Clarence David Alexander and Deloris Alexander Williams; and three step-siblings, Ronald Pinell, Barbra Pinell Alexander, and Lois Ann Firmin.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn Elaine Francois Alexander; three children, James Arlen Alexander, and wife Judy, Galen "Mike" Alexander, and wife Melissa, and Elizabeth "Liz" Alexander; one brother, Jackie Lee Alexander, and wife Jessie; two stepbrothers, Harry John Pinell II, and wife LeQuita, and Charles William Pinell, and wife Elizabeth; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two stepchildren, Jonathan David Francois, and wife Jeni, and Carl Bertman Francois, and wife Terra; eleven step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and many friends he has touched over the years.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Dustin Benoit, Devin Alexander, Josh Whittenberg, Titus Peltier, Chris Robertson, and Derrick Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Ackoury, Dewayne Snow, Johnny Ezell, and Phillip Robertson.
