Calvin “Cal” Peterson 78 of Duluth passed away surrounded by his family on October 9, 2025. Cal graduated from Central High School in 1964. He then entered into the service as a jet mechanic in the Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for his family at Harbor City Oil.
Cal loved the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing, boating, and 4-wheeling with his wrinkle rider group. He also enjoyed wintering the last 20 years in Gulf Shores, AL. Those who knew Cal will remember his kind heart, sense of humor, him whistling and his stubbornness.
Cal shared a wonderful life with his devoted wife, Judy and together they built a loving family that was the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rod; his mothers, Margaret and Florence; brother, Rick Peterson; brother-in-law, Larry Hansen, Mary Lou & Erich Rentz, and Dave Pardus.
Cal is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy; daughter, Gina Youngberg; son, Chad Peterson; grandchildren, Justin & Jamie Youngberg, Lydia Leacox, Zack & Carsen Peterson; brother, Bill (Nancy) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Joanne Peterson, Marge Hansen, and Anne Pardus; many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff at Benedictine for their wonderful care.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. on in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 N Arlington Ave, Duluth, MN 55811. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, or a charity of your choice.
