Calvin Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
Calvin Franklin Wright, Sr., a devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Kenner, Louisiana. Born on August 20, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, Calvin lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and deep love for his family.

This past December, he and his beloved wife, Sandra Sue (née Doucet), celebrated 59 years of marriage – a lifetime built on shared dreams, laughter, and steadfast companionship. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Calvin (Shawn) Wright Jr. and Theresa Reech (Eddie Crawford) who continued to bring them pride throughout their lives.

Calvin's legacy lives on through his adored grandchildren – Jordan (Alexandria) Wright, Makayla Wright, Justin Reech, and Ashley Reech – and shines even brighter in his great-granddaughters, Sutton Grace Wright and Colette Louise Wright, who carry forward his spirit and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Emma Wright (née Gibson), as well as his siblings Glen Wright, Pauline Cook, Charles Wright, Sr., and Patricia Pruitt.

Before retiring, Calvin made meaningful and lasting contributions to Shell as a Pressure Equipment Integrity Inspector, where his expertise, work ethic, and commitment to safety and equipment management were highly respected. Earlier in life, he proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Navy, stationed aboard the USS Ranger (CV-61), a Forrestal-class aircraft carrier, during the Vietnam War Era. He attained the rank of Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Aircraft Handling), Petty Officer Third Class, reflecting his dedication and professionalism.

Calvin lived his life with humility and strength. His family encourages everyone to pause, appreciate the people around them, and cherish the moments that too often pass by quickly. Those connections are the true measure of a life well lived.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA 70062 on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by his Funeral Service starting at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 11316 River Rd, St. Rose, LA 70087.

In recognition of Calvin's dedication as a caregiver for his wife during her journey with Parkinson's disease, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to support Parkinson's patients and research: The Parkinson's Foundation:
