Camille Hegg passed away in Canton, Georgia, on August 21, 2025. She was 80 years old. She was born on June 3, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewe Sessions and Diana Robinson Sessions of Anniston. She is survived by her daughter, Allison Littleton Rowin (Rob), three grandchildren, Brooke Hodgkinson, Summer Hodgkinson, and Riley Rowin; her brother, Lewe Hillyer Sessions (Marilyn); and her sisters, Laurel Sessions Phebus (Mike) and Alice Sessions Walker (Jay).

Camille graduated from Anniston High School in 1963 and attended Auburn University, studying journalism. After graduating, she became the editor of the Athens Banner-Herald. She later served on the staff of the Marietta Daily Journal. In 1976, she enrolled in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She received her Masters of Divinity Degree in 1979, becoming one of the first female priests in the nation at that time.

She served at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta for 16 years. She also served at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Mobile, Alabama, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Macon, Georgia. She retired in 2008 to Waleska, Georgia, to be near her family.

Throughout Camille's life, she strived to use her communication talents, both speaking and writing. She co-authored a book of sermons along with other women priests and wrote other articles for the Mobile Press Register. She became an enthusiastic storyteller, taught storytelling, and incorporated those skills into her ministry. Shortly after 9/11/01, Camille volunteered at St. Paul's Chapel across the street from Ground Zero to offer respite and counseling to the thousands of recovery workers. Camille was selfless, compassionate, brave, and dedicated to serving.

Although she stated that she didn't set out to become one, she was a trailblazer and role model for women.

There will be a memorial service on September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 161 Church Street, Marietta, Georgia.
