Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." John 11:25
Camille Samuel-Cobb transitioned from this life surrounded by family on August 9, 2025. Camille was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, on August 2, 1982, to the late Barbara Jean Samuel and the late Roger Baker. She received her education from Portsmouth, Virginia, where she attended Kindergarten at New Testament Church, Portsmouth Christian Academy, Sweethaven Christian Academy, and I.C. Norcom High School, where she graduated in the Class of 2000. Camille was a member of the New Testament Sounds Of Praise and Youth Ministry, and in the choir at Portsmouth Christian Academy.
Camille earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
Affectionately known as Poodie, Pookie, or Punkin, Camille sang in the Mass Choir @ First Baptist Church, South Hill. She worked beside her mother in the Food Service Ministry for over 10 years. She was also a part of the Women of Faith Dance ministry.
Camille was employed by Portsmouth Public Schools at Lakeview Elementary School for 4 years as an Assistant SPED teacher, where she assisted many students. When not teaching, Camille loved spending time with her two sons, Carlos Cobb, Jr. (CJ) and Christopher Jean Cobb.
Camille loved family gatherings, talking on the phone, texting, and Facetiming for hours at a time. She was a true "foodie" in every sense of the word. If you knew Camille, she was well-known as "The Baby Whisperer" and always had a baby on her hip.
Camille was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Jean Samuel; father, Roger Baker; grandparents, Mary M. Samuel and Marion Samuel, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her husband, Carlos Cobb, Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; two sons, Carlos Cobb, Jr. and Christopher Cobb of Norfolk, VA; three aunts, Mary E. Samuels of Virginia Beach, VA, Helen M. Simon of Norfolk, VA, and Inez Samuel Little of Chesapeake, VA; one nephew, William Amarii Smith; one niece, Mary Amoni Smith of Virginia Beach, VA; first cousins, Benjamin Samuels, Jr. (Twana) of Nenon, GA, Allexis Samuels- Smith of Virginia Beach, VA (William), Randall T. Samuels of Wake Forest, NC, and Asia and Alaya Bell-Simon of Norfolk, VA; two uncles, Marion Samuel, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dwayne Holman of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-aunts, Bertha Rogers and Ruby Devine, both of Portsmouth, VA; along with a host of Special cousins, relatives, and friends that loved her dearly.
Camille will be missed, but her legacy and spirit will live forever in our hearts.
