Candace Renee Hindman, a vibrant soul who embraced life’s moments with joy and laughter, passed away after a brief illness on January 27, 2025, at UF Health Shands in Gainesville, Florida. Candace was born on August 2, 1980, in Gainesville, to Steven Rosen and the late Betty Jane Reader and left an imprint with those she held close in her short 44 years.

She was known for her vivacious spirit and, though she was occasionally a bit stubborn, those who loved her found that part of her personality charming. Her interests were diverse; she found joy in shooting pool, playing card games—particularly Magic: The Gathering—reading, and soaking up the sun at the beach. Candace cherished her Native American heritage and created lasting memories with her children by taking them to pow wows during their younger years, fostering appreciation for their roots and heritage.

Candace's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her husband, James Hindman, of Ft. White. Her three children, Ayla (Daniel) Sullivan of Starke, Cian Smith of Worthington Springs, and Shane Smith of Starke. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Karina Sullivan, who brought immense joy to her life. Candace’s father, Steve Rosen, of Palmetto Springs, and her brother, Phillip (Cindy) Shaw, of Louisiana, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her devoted mother, Betty Jane Reader.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Candace's life at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida on February 17, 2025. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by a memorial service. Archer-Milton Funeral Home is honored to serve Candace's family during this difficult time.
