Helen Johns Bradshaw, age 98, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, surrounded by her family at the W. Frank Wells Nursing Home, following an extended illness. She was born on February 11, 1927, in Taylor, Florida, and lived a life filled with both professional dedication and family.
Helen dedicated 30 years to Macclenny Elementary School, where she shaped the minds and hearts of her 4th-grade students. Her passion for education began with her own academic achievements, graduating from the University of Florida in 1967 with a Bachelor's in Education. Before embracing a longstanding career in teaching, Helen owned Karelle's Dress Shop in Macclenny. Helen was an active and faithful member of Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
Known for her love of family, Helen was an integral part of her loved ones’ lives. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Belinda Green; her grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Sarah) Green and April (Quincy) Horn; and her great-grandchildren, Elisha, Maggie, Andrews, Bethany, Giddeon, Rebie Green, and Dalton and Levi Dietz. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her siblings, Arnold (Cindy) Johns and Sherry (Ted) Patterson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen had a vibrant spirit, enjoying a variety of pursuits throughout her life. She loved playing golf, continuing to swing clubs well into her 80s, and relished the joy of dancing in her younger years. In her later years, she found joy in playing Bingo, with her new friends at the nursing home.
On November 21, 2025, family and friends will gather for visitation at Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Glen St. Mary, Florida, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Arnold Johns and Michael Green, Jr. officiating. Helen will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Taylor Church Cemetery.
