Candace Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Feb. 17, 2026.
Candace Johnson, 60, of Beaver Falls, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh's North Side, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2026. She was the daughter of Joseph Benton and Mildred Johnson and beloved by her foster parents, the late Kathleen and Lawyer Tate.

Candace was a dedicated healthcare worker who poured compassion and care into her profession, always striving to make others feel comforted and valued. Her devotion extended far beyond her work - her family was her greatest priority and the center of her world.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. Candace loved music and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and especially adored T.J. Watt, cheering passionately during every game. A self-proclaimed foodie, she delighted in sharing good meals with those she loved.

Candace had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit. She loved to laugh and was known to pull a good prank, bringing smiles and lighthearted moments to family and friends. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence could brighten any room.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, LaMar Lester, Sr.; her cherished children, Shala and Myahnna Lester and LaMar (Damodica) Lester, Jr.; and her beloved granddaughter, Noa Lester, who was a precious light in her life.

Candace is also survived by her siblings Arthur Johnson and Tyme Johnson, and was preceded in death by her brother Joey Benton. She is further survived by her foster siblings Kathleen Tate, Kenny Tate, Lavaughn Tate, and Patricia Tate, and was preceded in death by Antoinette Tate and Stevie Tate.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her dear friend Sheryl Hudson and her daughter Shamica McClendon for their love, support, and friendship.

A celebration of Candace's life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Candace's faith, humor, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
