Candace R. Root

Candace R. Root, 61, of Richland Center, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison. Born on July 25, 1964, in Richland Center, Candace was the daughter of George and Betty (Turner) Root. Raised in a large family, she carried with her the values of love, generosity, and forgiveness that defined her character throughout life. Candace cherished being a devoted mother to her two children and a proud grandmother whose heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her joy in dance, her love of animals and gardens, and the deep spirituality that enriched all who knew her. Candace was someone to always count on-a forgiving and generous friend whose kindness touched many lives. She is survived by her children, Staci Root of Chicago, and BJ (Courtney) Knutson of Wauzeka; grandchildren, Sutton and Sawyer Knutson; siblings, Kelly (Jami) Parr, Julie Storkson, Vivian (Daryl) Thurner, Joan Root, and Bradley Root; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Gail Busch, Kevin Root, and Robin Root. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center.
