Candelaria Benites

Candelaria Benites, age 76, of Hondo, Texas, peacefully passed on August 8, 2025, in San Antonio. Alberta and Eusebio Benites welcomed Candelaria into their family in San Antonio, on February 2, 1949. Candelaria worked hard at the family restaurant, Benites Café, until she married Ruben Campos and had four children. She loved going out and dancing with her friends in her free time. Through the years Candelaria worked as a healthcare worker caring for those in need before retiring.

Candelaria is now dancing in heaven with her parents, her children’s father Ruben Campos, his sisters & brothers and her sons Jesse and Alex†. She is survived by her brother: Gabriel Benites (Laura), former sister in laws Uvelia Alfaro, Ramona and Kathy Campos; son: Robert Campos (Michelle); daughter: Melinda (her partner); daughter-in-law Danelle (†); 4 grandchildren: Sicily, Neil, Jackston, and Jourdan; and 1 great grandbaby.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the First Mexican Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., and will conclude with inurnment at Hondo Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather after the cemetery at the First Mexican Baptist Church Hall for food and fellowship.
