Candi Roinas Obituary

Candi Judee Roinas
Born: November 6, 1947 in DeKalb, IL
Died: July 16, 2025 in Clearwater, FL
Candi Judee Roinas (Darby), 77, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Clearwater, Florida. Born on November 6, 1947, in DeKalb, Illinois, Judee was raised on a farm as the youngest of six kids. On the farm, she learned to work hard and developed her love of animals. She treasured times with her siblings playing softball in the field and family picnics. She also developed a love of running when she had to sprint a mile down the lane just to get the mail.
At the heart of Judee's life was her deep love for her family. She is survived by her beloved daughter Amy Darby; her cherished grandson Gavin Henrikson; her brother John Roinas; her sister Shirley Olson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart. Judee was preceded in death by her parents, Violet and Nels Roinas; brothers Harold and Gene Roinas; and sister Donna Spafford.
Judee raised her daughter as a single mother while working as a law office administrator for forty years. She excelled at mentoring and counseling people, and she got fulfillment and joy by helping people reach their full potential. Despite being a full time working mom, Judee was a devoted mother to her daughter Amy. She was at every cheerleading event, banquet and awards ceremony. She just loved being a mom.
Judee was the heart of her family-always finding thoughtful ways to show love and support. Whether it was sending a card during tough times, preparing a comforting homemade meal when someone felt overwhelmed, or leaving a surprise gift at the door just because-she had an extraordinary way of making people feel cared for.
Judee loved traveling to new places, and her favorite trip was to visit her family in Norway. She also loved returning home to Illinois to reconnect with family and lifelong high school friends. She was so looking forward to attending her 60th high school reunion in August and seeing all of her friends.
Judee was a fabulous cook known for preparing large meals at family gatherings and making occasions feel extra special. She found joy in simple pleasures: playing bingo with her niece Tammy at the Elk's Club, cheering from the stands at her grandson Gavin's baseball games, catching up with Amy over dinner and shopping trips, or babysitting her beloved granddog Bella.
A celebration of Judee's life will be held on November 8, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Inn at Farandas, 302 Grove St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

I remember all the fun Judee and I had when I first met. She used to come over to my house all the time. We were still in grade school. We also on a softball team together. Then we went through Jr high and high school together. We sort of lost touch after high school. Saw each other and reunions. Last time I saw her was at our 50th reunion. We kept in touch after that. I was so looking forward to seeing her at the 60th reunion. She has gone home to be with God. I know she very happy to see all her loved ones again. I know I will see her again someday.
