She was the CCSD liaison to the Dee Norton Low Country Children's Center, Darkness to Light, Coast Crisis Chaplaincy, and the Charleston County Department of Social Services. Her passion was to help kids and their families, especially in the prevention of a substance abuse, sexual abuse, bullying, and suicide, and her crisis management skills when trauma struck students, families, and school district staff were unparalleled. It was so wonderful to share time with you ladies during the SC Association Counseling Award Luncheon. I had the perfect seat with you, Candys loving sisters. When I think of Candy I immediately visualize her lovely smile & hear her contagious laugh. Candy was a ONE OF A KIND GAL., she left her joyous impression on every person who experienced her presence. I worked with Candy on many statewide counseling projects. During project planning I always knew when my phone rang at any hour it was CANDY. She was the of o r more great idea. I miss my phones, the smokes, the hugs & her positive presence. She continues to live in my most positive & caring memories. I am proud that the SCCA award named in her honor keeps other focused on what she loved: supporting & caring for others!

Candy was an educator that had a true love for all children. She put "Children First" in all of her work with us in the schools in Charleston. You couldn't be around Candy without catching her positive attitude and her joy for life. She is one of the people I most valued when I became the principal at Ron McNair school. Her laugh was geniuine ...Candy will be missed. My prayers go out to family and friends. I thank God for Candy and the influence she had on me.
