Candida Ines Arias De Taveras, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on April 15, 1935, in the Dominican Republic to her parents Jose and Maria, Candida dedicated her life to her family, creating an invaluable legacy of love and strength.
Candida's commitment to her family was unwavering, and she held them close to her heart. She is survived by her loving children: Nelson Taveras, Jorge Taveras, Andres Taveras and his wife Rosa, Jose Taveras and his wife Rosa, Maria Minondo and her husband Arsenio, Dulce Duran and her husband Marino, Sofia Garcia and her husband Julio, and Richard Taveras and his wife Maria. Her profound influence also extends to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her spirit of compassion and warmth with them.
Throughout her life, Candida demonstrated a remarkable ability to cherish those around her. Her welcoming smile and generous nature created an environment where family and friends felt special and appreciated. Despite having only completed the 6th grade, her wisdom and insight resonated deeply with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation services to celebrate Candida's life will be held at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on April 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass in honor of Candida will take place on April 28, 2025, at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, located at 125 Half Hollow Road, Deer Park, NY, starting at 11:15 AM.
Candida Ines Arias De Taveras will be remembered not just for her life, but for the love that flourished within her family and rings on in their hearts. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and nurture future generations.
