Deacon Capp Doublin, Jr. was born July 20, 1946, in Scooba, Mississippi. He was the first of three sons born to the union of the late Capp Doublin Sr. and Mary Etta (Smoot) Doublin. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Jackson Tennessee. With 77 years of wisdom, went home to be with God on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
He was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Rev. R. S. Brooks. He was an active member of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. He loved his church family and served in many capacities, including the Trustees, Deacon Board, Mission Board, and Chair of the Finance Committee.
He graduated from Merry High School in 1964. He was an excellent student and loved math and science.
He served in the in the United States Marine Corp from July 1964 until his honorable discharge on June 28,1968 where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. In the Marines, he received several medals including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
He worked at Porter Cable/Black and Decker from 1968 until 2010. His love of math served him well, as he became a Master Technician at Porter Cable. He was responsible for testing equipment to ensure all tools were working according to specifications. He was an early adopter to computer technology, at one point building computers from scratch. He enjoyed sitting in his computer room tinkering with hardware and software. He was always available to assist others who were not as computer literate. In 2004, Porter Cable was acquired by Black and Decker, and he retired from Black and Decker in 2010.
He loved giving to family members, in addition to supporting numerous charities, organizations and others. During COVID he provided hundreds of masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer to anyone who might need it. He was well known for providing assistance to anyone who was in need. He had many hobbies and interest including fishing, bowling, photography, tools, and new gadgets.
He was truly a loving person/son; taking care of his mother until her death, ensuring all her needs were met.
Although he did not have children, he embraced other peoples' children as his own. He was a mentor, special uncle, and encourager to many of the children in the family and community.
His brothers LuEllis (2021), Ezell Sr. (1986) and his sister-in-law Joe Ann (Ezell's wife, 2022) preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: nephew Ezell Doublin, Jr. (Debra), nieces Pebbles Smith and Cherise Doublin, great-nephew Ty'Neal (Pebbles), great-niece Ayrianna (Ezell), one Aunt, Delia (Smoot) Shumate, and sister-in-law Sandra Doublin, LuEllis' wife. He also leaves special friends, Alice and Brian Bowers, Larry Forrest, Mary Turner, his beloved church family, and a host of relatives and friends.
