In Loving Memory of Cara Bechter
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cara Bechter, a cherished Colorado native, who brightened the lives of all who knew her. Born and raised in the beautiful state she called home, Cara lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Cara grew up in Boulder, Colorado and graduated from Boulder High School, where her spirited personality shone as a member of the cheerleading team. She went on to attend the University of Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Don Bechter. The two shared an incredible 37 years of marriage, building a beautiful life together centered around love, partnership, and family.
Cara continued her connection to the University of Colorado as an avid Buffs fan through thick and thin. She also enjoyed travel, reading, and everything outdoors, completing 3 marathons, including Boston.
A devoted mother to three children she adored, Cara’s greatest joy came from her role as a mom. She was an incredible mentor and example for her kids. She had an unmatched ability to make her family, as well as everyone else around her, feel loved and supported, whether it was through her kind words, warm smile, or her caring heart.
Cara pursued her passion as an interior design consultant, transforming spaces with her talent, creativity, and unique eye for beauty. Her work was an extension of her personality— classic and refined, while vibrant and full of life. Just as she enhanced the rooms and homes she designed, she brought light and warmth to every space she entered.
Cara will be remembered for her strength and faith, her boundless kindness, her ability to make everyone feel valued, and her deep love for her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us to cherish the beauty in life and the importance of caring for one another.
Cara is survived by her husband, Don, and her three children, Callan (Michael Falkenstein), Ben, and Riley. She was the rock of the Bechter family. She is also survived by her father, Joe Bourland, her brother, Jeff Bourland (Dana), sister-in-law, Brenda (Kevin) Sabo, and her adored dog, Mowgli.
A celebration of Cara’s life will be held on December 20, 2024, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Denver Country Club, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the incredible person she was. For those who wish to make a memorial donation as a tribute to Cara, please consider the Denver Botanic Gardens.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Cara.
