Obituary published on Legacy.com by Old Bridge Funeral Home on Apr. 27, 2023.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the tender age of 42, Cara Elena King Brown of
Old Bridge, New Jersey, departed this life. Cara's parents, David Nathaniel King and Vilma King (nee Morris) immigrated from the Kendall Hill/Maxwell Hill area of Barbados in the 1970s. Her brother, David King, Jr, and both of her parents have pre-deceased her.
Cara is married to Kevin Brown. Her five year old son, Christian King Brown, has two brothers, Branden and Trusten Brown. Cara, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, grew up in
Old Bridge, New Jersey. She attended Old Bridge High School and Kean College. Cara was also a certified Massage Therapist, and was until recently, employed by Massage Envy.
From her earliest years, Cara loved singing, dancing, fashion and making people laugh. When it came to music, she enjoyed listening to her girls, Rihanna and Beyonce. Two of Cara's loves were movies and a cup of soup. In her last days, there were many who stood by her, among them, her BFFs Michelle Osbourne, Andrea Mickens, Diana Araru, Maria Alexiou, Sheila Philbert and many others. Then there was Uncle Stephen and Auntie Lenore, who, along with her husband Kevin, kept everyone informed about Cara. All these worked to keep little Christian occupied in this incredible time of pain and sadness.
Cara was a beloved niece of her aunt Ruth Eleanor, Uncles Arthur Llewelyn, David, Frank Hallam, Andrew and Stephen. In addition, Cara was one of the leaders of "The Cousins" (who called themselves by that name), keeping the second generation together. These included Tracy Shields, Roslyn and Colin Seale, Leon, Danielle and Stephen Jr., Nia and Aliyah Morris, Louis, Alexa and Paul Follo.
Cara leaves to mourn many cousins in Barbados, many of them Kings: Michael, Cathy, Annette, Chester, Juliet, Vanessa and Antoinette. The long list of family includes the McPherson, King, Pinder, and Hinkson families. Mother in law-Andrenia Brown, Father In law- Randall Brown -Brother and Sister in laws- Steven, Byron, Jaquan, Donnell, Tyrone, Schalon,Tash and Joy Brown
