Carey Lynn Germana (1971-2025), Greenwood, Indiana
Carey joined her husband, Marc Sherman, in heaven on July 9th, 2025. She was a fun loving, outgoing, and caring soul who loved Jesus and was easy to talk to. Carey was a creative person known for her music, artwork and warm smile.
She was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1971 to Richard and Jean Cooper. Raised in a military family, Carey moved from state-to-state throughout her childhood, living in Kentucky, Georgia, California, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Virginia and finally Indiana.
Carey was a phenomenal musician and songwriter, known for her lovely keyboard playing and beautiful voice. In high school, she enjoyed performing as a snare drummer in the marching band. Carey was recognized as one of the top high school bassoonists in the state of Arkansas. As a singer/songwriter, she published several songs and many of them are available to hear online. Carey loved performing live, sometimes playing and singing at coffee houses with other musicians. Carey earned her Associates of Applied Science Degree, graduating Cum Laude and majoring in Visual Communication.
Carey was married to Marc Sherman and had a strong relationship based on friendship, faith, and family. Together they raised two children, Lincoln and Brandi. Carey suffered through the loss of Marc two and half years ago but gained strength in her faith in God and the promise they would see each other again. She lived on to experience the gift of four grandchildren, each of whom she cherished.
Most of all, Carey was known for her caring and sweet nature. She was eager to make up silly stories and hilarious songs with her family. She affectionately earned the nicknames "Care Bear" and "Kiwi" by her siblings. In her final years, she experienced many caregivers in her home who she grew close to in friendship.
Carey was preceded in death by her husband, Marc Sherman, her mother, Jean Cooper, and her sister, Cynthia Jones. Carey is survived by her daughter, Brandi Germana, her son, Lincoln Germana, her grandchildren Maribelle, Brody, William and Mori, her father, Richard Cooper, mother-in-law, Barbara Cooper, and her siblings, Cathy Lee, Michael Cooper, David Cooper and Paul Cooper.
