On February 4, 2026, Joanne Kreamer passed from this life to the next. Kindly take a moment of respect to pray for her and her family.
Cari "Joanne" Kreamer was born July 1, 1949, to James and Willette "Billie" Kreger at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She was the second of their five children and was known for her beautiful smile, strong work ethic and deep devotion to her family.
On September 2, 1967, she married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Dirk Kreamer. They shared the adventure of fifty-eight years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Jeffrey "Jeff" and Amy, and Joanne made it clear that her children and husband were the joy of her life. Joanne took seriously her call to be the heart of the home. She took great pride in raising her children and worked diligently in the home; she also had an impressive variety of jobs throughout her life outside of the home. Joanne, Dirk, Jeff and Amy shared many highs and lows that Joanne made sure were always tempered with love and never-ending support. She was a talented cook and loved dancing, traveling, her ever-amassing menagerie of well-cared for pets, and most of all spending time with her family. Joanne was always happiest with a baby in her arms, and each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in her loving heart. Her legacy of love and strength will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
Joanne battled strokes that claimed her mobility in the last years of her life and faced this challenge with the stubborn defiance which had marked her attitude towards all of life's great challenges. Joanne's husband and daughter lovingly cared for her at home until the last months of her life when she required advanced care. A deep, heartfelt thank you to Dirk and Amy for their care of, continued support, and visits to Joanne. We are also appreciative of the remarkable staff at UnityPoint Hospice and Accura Healthcare of Carlisle who guided the family along this poignant journey with compassion, strength and honesty.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, James and Willette "Billie" Kreger, and brothers, James "Jimmy" Kreger and Donald "Donnie" Kreger. She is survived by her husband, Dirk Kreamer; her sisters Rebecca "Becky" Bales and Melissa "Missy" Van Patten; her children, Jeff (Darcy) Kreamer, and Amy (Chad) Fuller; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren--with four more on the way.
