A true cowgirl has returned home to her Heavenly Father and Mother. Carin Blake Snyder passed away peacefully on August 23rd 2025, in her home, surrounded by her sweetheart Everett and other loved ones. She was born on April 1st, 1948, to Lester and Colleen Shakespeare Blake in Cedar City, Utah.
Carin is the oldest of four children. The Blake children were raised in Cedar City where they learned to be extremely hard workers from their dad and were nurtured by their kind and generous mother. From a young age, Mom developed a profound and enduring love for horses. She loved riding them and all aspects of caring for them, including training them and cleaning their stalls. Now that's true love! She was involved in rodeo competitions in high school and was an attendant in two (possibly more) local rodeo queen royalties.
Carin married Kent Hall Humpherys in 1968 and they had five children together. In her eyes, her children were perfect and she believed in them wholeheartedly. She read, sang, and played guitar often to her children. She made sure they had plenty of time to play and explore in their backyard and around their first hometowns of Summit and Parowan, Utah. Mom worked many jobs throughout her life to help support her children and their LDS missions, including some very difficult manual labor jobs. Those jobs included the following: seamstress, motel maid, motel laundry attendant, sawmill worker, racetrack groomer, wrangler, nurse's aid in a resthome, playground monitor, and school bus driver.
After a divorce from Kent, she and some of her children lived in Escalante, Utah, (1982-1986) where frequent nature excursions to Bryce Canyon National Park, Calf Creek, Devils Garden, and other wondrous places instilled a love for nature and camping in her children.
Carin's free spirit was most exhibited during an about four year time period when she worked at a variety of racetracks and ranches across the country.
Carin married Everett Snyder in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1993. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1997. Grandma Carin and Papa EZ had many wonderful adventures together. After living in Idaho Falls for a while, they moved to Clearfield, Utah. Then, to help take care of some grandchildren, they moved to Enoch, Utah then Spokane, Washington. Finally, they moved into their current home in Summit, Utah, when Carin's father needed assistance. Do you see a pattern here? They both love to serve. They were able to enjoy many trips together including trips to see posterity in Tennessee, Northern Utah, and Idaho. They were also blessed to cruise to Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. We, her children, appreciate Everett being Mom's good companion for 32 years and attentive caretaker in her last years. We also appreciate Everett helping her fulfill her dreams of having horses of her own and of being able to fish often!
Carin is loved by many because she is so lovable but also because she loves unconditionally. She wrote many sweet notes to her dear ones where she would express her true love with great earnestness. She is a woman of many talents with seamstress, artist, singer, guitarist, pianist, writer, TV game show watcher, hunter, baker (whole wheat bread and spudnuts!), and nature survivalist being just a few. Perhaps what we admire the most in her is her stalwart strength (a cancer survivor about ten years ago!) and unbreakable faith in Jesus Christ. Through the challenges that life brought to her, some very intense and long lasting, she turned to Him. In her good times, she turned to Him. Her strength combined with His was a marvel to behold. Because of her love for Jesus and others, Carin served in many volunteer callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her membership of which she holds very dear. She served in her most recent calling of music conductor for eight years.
Sweet Carin, we will miss you so very much until we meet again! We hope you've already been able to enjoy some horse ridin' in Spirit Paradise!
Carin is preceded in death by: her parents, her brothers and fishing buddies Alan and Barry, and a beloved niece and nephew, Leslie and Daren. Carin is survived by: her husband, Everett Snyder; her sister, Arlene Cornelius (Bruce); sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Blake (Alan); her children, Carrie Ann Lundgren (Bernt), Jason Blake Humpherys (Joanna), Amy Colleen Robertson (Tim), Elarie Humpherys McGarvey (Shane), and Johnny Humpherys (Penny); a stepson, Michael Everett Snyder (Shauna); 26 adored grandchildren; 13 cherished great-grandchildren, and many dear friends and extended family members.
We want to express sincere gratitude for the supreme care of our mom from the loving team at Intermountain Healthcare and Hospice. Becky, Debbie, Craig, Tiffany, and others were so good to her.
