Carl Leo Acklin was born January 3, 1950 to the proud parents of Leo and Saraphine Acklin in New Orleans, Louisiana.
For employment opportunities his family moved to Pleasantville Texas in 1954. Soon afterwards the decision was made
to move the family to Houston TX, where he graduated with honors from Jack Yates in 1968. Later in life, he was
employed with AT&T where he eventually retired. Carl had many loves. In junior and high school, he enjoyed playing the
drums. In addition to playing the drums he enjoyed music in general, dancing, being hospitable to all who would visit him,
and traveling.
Carl soon met the love of his life Connie Watson. They married July 10th, 1970, and from that union they became proud
parents of four children, two boys and two girls, which he loved and was proud of. He was affectionately called "Papa"
by his grandchildren whom he loved and supported throughout their lives. Carl loved his family and strived to be a good
husband, father and grandfather. He started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and learn Bible principles
therefore, becoming better equipped to be a spiritual and supportive head for them. On January 26, 1996 Carl
symbolized his love and devotion to Jehovah God by water baptism. He never looked back and remained faithful until his
death.
Carl loved sharing in the ministry with his wife Connie and for 2 1/2 years he was able to share in the regular pioneer
service with her devoting 70 hours a month in this sacred service. He and Connie had the privilege of attending several
international conventions which included Germany, Ecuador, Dallas, and Hawaii. He created a lifetime of memories from
these conventions that he shared with his family and friends.
Carl and Connie remained in Houston until the year 2000, then they moved to Galveston TX where he met new longtime
friends. Carl loved many and was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Carl was preceded in death by: his parents Leo and Saraphine Acklin, mother-in-law- Margaret Lott, father-in law Frank
Watson, grandson Donntay Borom Jr., brother Marvin Acklin, sister Claudette Douglas, his brother in laws Larry
Demerson, John Royston, Thad Watson, his sister-in-law Margaret Francisco.
Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory: His devoted wife of 53 years Connie Acklin, sons Mark Acklin (Lorena) and
Steven Acklin, daughters Romonica Acklin and Courtney Acklin, grandchildren Autumn Acklin, Taylor Nobles, Trastevia
Acklin, Arnesha Oquendo (Dylan), Cleavon Adams Jr., DeAndre Allen (Porcha), Bernard Lane IV, Leonard Lane, great
