Carl Lawrence Brown

Carl Lawrence Brown, a beloved figure known for his kindness, humor, and culinary skill, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on May 17, 1944, in Louisville, Carl dedicated two decades of his life to serving in the Navy, demonstrating unwavering commitment and courage during his military career.

After his service, Carl embraced his passion for food and transitioned into a fulfilling career as a chef and cook, where he continued to share his zest for life with everyone he encountered. His innate ability to forge connections and his well-liked personality made him a cherished friend to many; he truly never met a stranger.

Carl is survived by his wife, Sandy Brown, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind his son Mike Gombosky, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Zach and Michaela Gombosky. In addition, he is remembered fondly by his brother Tim (Shelly) Brown, sister-in-law Lesvia Brown, and many nephews and nieces who carry forward his spirit of laughter and kindness.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Jack Brown, Sr., his mother, Anna Brown, his sister Rosie (Bud) Ditsler, and his brother Jack Brown, Jr. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.

A visitation will take place on March 13, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM, concluding with another visitation until 6:00 PM. Both events will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home in East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.

Carl's legacy of love and warmth will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
