Leon Benham, Sr.

Leon Benham, Sr. was born on March 20, 1943, and he passed away on February 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer that lasted 16 years. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to the auto collision repair profession, where he was known for his skill and expertise in the industry.

Leon was a beloved husband to his wife, Roberta F. Benham, for 47 years. Together they created a large blended family full of love and laughter. He was proud to be a father to his children: Carol Holland, Leon Benham, Jr. (Cheryl), Donna Kay Benham, Joseph Benham (Lisa), Samantha Goss (Charles), James Caulk, Donna Caulk, and Jennifer Bluhm (Jim). He also leaves behind a beloved sister, Hazel Sheffield.

His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Katrina, Nathan, Erica, J.C., Jimmy, Rob, Cody, Jacob, Jack, Noah, Bella, Emma, and Caiden, as well as his five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Leon also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends. 

Leon will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, and golfing, and he was often seen as the jokester among his family and friends, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Barzilla and Mamie (Harrington) Benham; his daughter, Cathy Ann Baranik; his grandson, Zackery Goss; and his siblings: Peggy Stice, Gertrude Gray, Lucille Samuels, Janice Priddy, and Gerald Benham, Sr.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
