Carl "Sunny" Clinebell, a beloved resident of Roanoke, VA, passed away on January 4, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep connection to the community he called home. Sunny's devotion to his family, friends, and the Roanoke Valley defined his life, and his memory will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Sunny, a third-generation contractor, dedicated his life to his craft, contributing to the growth and development of the Roanoke Valley. His commitment to excellence and his tireless work ethic were a testament to his family's legacy.
Sunny enjoyed playing pool with his brother Ricky and his lifetime friend Tommy, traveling, and exploring new locations with his beloved wife, Anita, listening to music, and caring for his faithful canine companions who brought him joy.
Sunny was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Anita Clinebell. He is survived by his brother, Rick Clinebell; son, Eric Ratcliffe and wife Michelle; grandchild, Erica Campbell and husband Jordon; great-grandchildren, Cody and Aria and stepson, Chris Smith and wife Tracie.
In lieu of flowers, Sunny supported Angels of Assisi, an organization close to his heart. The family kindly requests any donations be made in Sunny's name to support the important work of Angels of Assisi (https://www.angelsofassisi.org/donate-now/).
A life celebration gathering to honor Sunny's memory will be held at a later date for friends and family. Details will be announced in the coming weeks. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, let us also celebrate the life of Sunny Clinebell and the enduring impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

Dear Rick, Some family members contacted me today to let me know about Sunny. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. You were just a boy the last time I saw you, and I hadn't seen Sunny since about 1980 when I left Virginia. He was a fine, goodhearted man, and I'm glad he was blessed with a good life. I offer my deepest condolences to you and Eric in your time of loss.
