Carl Gladish Obituary
Roxbury Twp.: Carl Francis Gladish, III passed away suddenly on December 6, 2023 in Ledgewood, NJ at the age of 60. Born June 6, 1963, Carl was the firstborn of parents, Carl F. Gladish, Jr. and Martha "Theresa" Bradley (nee Nguyen). Carl had four siblings: Joseph Gladish, Mary Gladish, Theresa Crane and Kim DeVito; and four additional siblings through later marriages: Patrick Bradley, Jr., Amanda Gladish, Ashley Boyle and Jason Gladish. Carl was a devoted father to three children, Maxwell Gladish, Sharon Gladish and Melanie Gladish.
Known for several years of his life by his family nickname "Butch," Carl's hometown was Dover, NJ where he graduated from Dover High School before pursuing Diesel Mechanics at Ohio Diesel Tech in Cleveland, OH. In the early '90's, Carl started a private business, opening an auto repair shop - Arrow Auto Repair in Ledgewood, NJ. Carl ran a highly successful business and was regarded locally for his kindliness, honest work and fair pricing. Carl loved music and movies and was an endless well of knowledge and trivia for both. He enjoyed Kevin Smith movies, hard rock and grunge music. Fixing computers became a hobby of his later in life and Carl was also an excellent cook and had a "famous chicken" recipe that only some know. He will be missed by so many.
Preceding Carl in death are his paternal and maternal grandparents, Carl Gladish, Sr. & Isabelle Gladish (nee Sebelle) of Mine Hill, NJ; and Hoe Nguyen & Long Nguyen of Danang, Vietnam. Carl is survived by his father, Carl F. Gladish, Jr. and partner Michelle McCroy and his mother, Martha "Theresa" Bradley and her husband Patrick Bradley, Sr., siblings and children, Maxwell ("Max") Gladish of White Haven, PA; Sharon Gladish of Louisville, KY; and Melanie Gladish of E. Windsor, NJ.
Family and friends are invited to a public Celebration of Life from 2 to 6 pm on Wednesday, December 13 at the Lake Hopatcong Elks at 201 Howard Boulevard in Mt. Arlington, NJ. An informal remembrance will take place at 5:30 pm.

Carl Jr was an amazing person and a brilliant mechanic. Carl was never too busy to talk to you and often when I passed by Arrow Auto Repair in my Camaro, I would stop in to say hello. Carl almost always would ask me to open the hood and would time the car by ear even better than any timing gun I owned. He was a good man the loved people. Carl was the nicest person. He was my mechanic and always willing to help. He would always make me laugh and comment about movies that we both liked. I will always remember him making jokes.
