Carl Eugene Hinger, 96, loving husband of the late Alice Bragg Hinger, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Born in Newark, OH, in 1929, he was a son of the late Frederick and Gladys Hinger.

He is survived by his children, Beth (Bill) Osborne, David (Carla) Hinger and Diana (Joey) Cogdill; grandchildren, Dan (Katie) Osborne, Robert Osborne, Brian (Jessica) Hinger, Brittany Hinger and Katherine (Garrett) Cogdill Kreiner; and one great granddaughter, Allison Hinger.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hinger.

Carl graduated from Newark High School before attending Otterbein University. He then served in the United States Army in Korea with the 185 th Combat Engineers and 5 th Army Headquarters upon his return. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in Production Management in Newark, Ohio and later transferred to begin a new plant in Bay Minette, Alabama. Carl and his wife, Alice, built a home in Spanish Fort, Alabama where they raised their family. Carl enjoyed membership and leadership in many professional and civic organizations to include Industrial Management Association, Jaycees, Civitan Club, Thomas Hospital volunteer, and Prodisee Food Pantry volunteer. He was an avid Square Dancer and enjoyed traveling around the country to square dance with his wife and friends. He was a member of several local clubs and served as President and Festival Chair of the Mobile (AL) Square Dance Association. Upon relocating to Alabama in 1964, Carl moved his church membership to Fairhope Christian Church. He served as deacon, elder, trustee, board chairman, and a member of various committees until moving to Simpsonville SC in 2019 to live closer to his daughters.

Carl had a wonderful life and enjoyed numerous hobbies and activities including bowling, golf, square dancing, and deep-sea fishing. He was an avid Ohio State fan (O-H-I-O), adopted Auburn University (War Eagle) and Troy University (Go Trojans).

Carl will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always a gentleman, kind and courteous. His family will miss him every day but will joyfully celebrate his life and are comforted to know he is in his eternal home in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carl's name to the American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Association. Burial arrangements are still pending. A memorial service and internment are being planned to be held in Newark, Ohio.
