Patrick Gerald Hinger

1955 - 2023

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Patrick G. Hinger, 67, of Michigan City, Indiana. Patrick passed away peacefully at 8:16 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago.

The man, the myth, the legend. Pat was born in Piqua, Ohio, on Sept. 5, 1955, to Bill and Mary (Hollar) Hinger, who preceded him in death.

In 1982, he met the love of his life, Catherine A. (Gibbs) Hinger, and together they raised a daughter and spent 34 wonderful years together. Their undying love will last lifetimes. She also precedes him in death.

Pat was a loving son, devoted husband, a beloved father, best friend and personal hero. Brother to many dear siblings, grandfather to seven grandchildren, favorite uncle and friend. He was undoubtedly the best man many of us will ever know.

A genuine kind person, Patrick was an all-around great human being. An avid golfer, he loved playing at numerous courses regionally and cherished time spent on the course with family every year. A master gardener, he enjoyed tending his yard he took much pride in.

Pat was a sports fan through and through. For more than two decades, Pat and Cathy held annual Super Bowl parties and celebrated with their closest loved ones. A Weil-McLain retiree, he worked there for more than 30 years.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A private memorial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m., at the family home. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W.
