Seneca, South Carolina
Carl Davis Holden, 87, of Seneca, SC, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2025, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 8, 1937, in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late James Fred Holden and Willie Mae Barker Holden.
Carl proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Wesleyan faith. He was a dedicated and skilled Spinning Technician at Avondale Mills, where he worked for many years before his retirement. Carl was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and steady devotion to his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Jean Holden Crooks (Kevin) of Seneca, SC; his sister, Joann Griffin (Bobby) of Florence, SC; his niece, Julie Griffin Bramble (Larry) of Charlotte, NC; great-nephews, Griffin Bramble and Graham Bramble, both of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Crooks and Alyssa Crooks; and one great-grandchild, Henry Crooks. He is also lovingly remembered by his granddaughter's cherished cat, Toby.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha Gwendolene Grant Holden; brother, J.B. Holden; and sisters, Grace Holden and Hazel Mae Holden.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Oconee Memorial Park, with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, at Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster, prior to the service.
The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741.
