Carl Robert "Bob" Lencke, 89, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, August 25, 2023 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda L. Lencke, as well as his parents, Carl H. Lencke and Bertha E. Lencke. Bob is survived by his children Scott (Sandy) Lencke, Robin (the late Matthew) Lemmons, Steven (Tammi) Lencke, Kristin (Jon) Kimerle and stepsons Michael (Carolyn) Milligan and Stephen (Anne) Milligan as well as 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Don (Barbara) Lencke and Helen (the late Ed) Fairchild.
Bob grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He earned a Bachelors degree in Business & Economics in 1957 and a Masters degree in Business Administration in 1961. Upon graduation, he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska with the United States Air Force, but then began his career in the corporate world when he returned stateside. Over the years, he worked for Ford Motor Company, Monsanto, Borden and eventually the City of Columbus (OH). Upon retirement, Bob and Linda moved to Bradenton, Florida, where they enjoyed the warmer weather and Bob was able to golf year-round. But family remained a huge priority and they stayed busy visiting their six children and grandchildren all around the country as well as hosting family at their home in Florida. They also loved watching all sports, but especially the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball! In 2018, Bob and Linda decided to move back to the Midwest to be closer to family and settled in Indianapolis.
The family will be celebrating Bob's life at a private ceremony in Columbus, Ohio.
In memory of Bob, the family is suggesting memorial contributions in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
