Carl Robert Nagy, 91, was born April 7, 1933 in North Branch, Michigan, the son of John and Lydia Nagy. He was the 12th child of 13 children. He grew up in Lapeer, MI where he worked at Kroger's grocery store until he enlisted in the Navy on September 6, 1951, serving in the Korean War until September 2, 1955. He worked at Wingert's IGA in Mayville, MI for 42 years. He could be seen driving the tiny Wingerts' IGA car in the Sunflower festival parade, waving to the crowds (He was the only adult who could fit into the car due to his tiny stature). He loved playing his guitar and harmonica and singing country and gospel songs as well as hymns for his friends at Taeckens Terrace Senior Living during his stay. He loved fixing things for people and playing cards and Wii bowling, stating he would lose on occasion so others would not feel bad that he won all the time. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting the sick and shut in. He enjoyed fishing with his son's anytime he could. There was no place he went that he did not make a new friend. He enjoyed going to church with his grandson Devin, son-in-law, and daughter, Allen and DeAnn. He gave his life to God on January 27, 2024, and stated he hoped his children did not wait as long as he did to accept the Lord. He left this world peacefully and ready to enter into the arms of God.
He leaves to cherish his memory his youngest sister Betty Skidmore of Alamogordo, New Mexico, his children: Kenneth Nagy of Caro MI, Keith Nagy of Lapeer, MI, Thomas (Charlene) Nagy of Lapeer, Lynn Goodrich of Flint, MI, DeAnn (Allen) Taylor of Grand Blanc, MI, Starlene (Robert) Zoppa of Brighton, MI, Joseph (Cathy) Nagy of Davison, MI, Suzanne (Gregory) Gordish of Howell, MI, Robbin Broadworth of Caro, MI, Ronda (Matthew) Caverly of Millington, MI, Ryan Broadworth of Caro MI, Carl II (Autumn) Nagy of Nebraska. A host of grand and great grandchildren and family. Special Family Members: Norman (Barb) McDonald, Donald (Rhonda) Hemingway, Lucinda Hemingway and Marcia Hemingway, David (Linda) Hemingway. Special Friends: Pat Wingert, Dean (Phyllis) Wingert and Taecken's Terrace Family.
