Carl Thomas Owens, age 68, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Carl was born on April 19, 1954 in Searcy AR, the son of Harold Lorain and Sara Lee Bear Owens.
Carl is survived by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sally Owens and father, Lorain "Dynamite" Owens of Clarence, MO.
He went to school in a variety of states as his parents and family moved often. Carl graduated high school in May of 1973 from IBSSS in Vinton, IA. He then continued his education at Fort Dodge Community for Broadcasting. Later he attended Grandview Community College in Computer Programming.
Carl loved life and never met a stranger. He loved talking on his ham radio (WBOCPR), volunteering to field days on many charity fundraisers. He worked for the IRS as a computer tech and retired after 32+ years in May of 2020.
He loved to fly, play cards, listen to music and read. He told the best stories and jokes and loved to make people laugh.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the National Federation for the Blind of Indiana.

Hey Carl's Lindburgh.. SysOp of Spirit of St. Louis BBS in the 1990s .. I'll make sure I keep a smile. If there is an afterlife and if I see you there, you won't be able to respond to "How are you doing?" With "well, I'm not dead yet."

So sorry to hear of the passing of my dear friend and co-worker Carl. We worked together in Philly for a lot of years. Carl had a wealth of knowledge, he had vision beyond eyesight. Carl always had a story to tell you or a joke to make you laugh, we love you and miss you buddy, rest in peace.
