Jerry King, 84, passed away February 24, 2026, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

He was born January 16, 1942, in Bucklin, Missouri, to Rollie E. King and Geneva (Taber) King.

Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1960-1963 stationed in Hawaii and Thailand, during the Vietnam era. On June 13, 1965 he married Betty Whisenand together they were married for 60 years. In October, 1966 he started to work for Chariton Valley Telephone. He retired after thirty years in 1997. He was known for his dedication to his job, his strong work ethic, and the pride he took in doing his work well.

He was a member of Bucklin Christian Church and regularly attended Mt. Zion West in New Cambria, Missouri. His faith was an important part of his daily life and a guiding force throughout the years.

Jerry enjoyed garden tractor pulling, square dancing, fishing with sons and buddies at the Grand River, spoonbill fishing in Warsaw and playing pool.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Betty King, of the home; two sons, Tony King of Overland Park, Kansas, and Edward (Rose) King of Bucklin, Missouri; one brother, Bob (Shirley) King of Brookfield; a niece, Kelly (Skeet) Collins; and a nephew, Kenneth King, Great niece and nephews.

He was a proud grandfather to Lydia Jackson and Lily King, and a cherished great-grandfather to Milo Brooke Jackson and Cora Leanne Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie E. and Geneva King.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Delaney Funeral Home in Bucklin, Missouri. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Bucklin, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America or Mt. Zion Church
