Born on July 16, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, IL, to Carl C. and Ruth (Hogue) Roach, Carl's life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carl's early years were spent in Illinois where he graduated from high school in Chicago. His sense of duty led him to serve in both the Army and Air Force, with much of his enlisted time spent in California. After his honorable discharge, Carl's industrious spirit took him to Indiana, where he worked in factories before going on to work as an Insurance Adjuster in Mount Vernon, IL. It was there that he met the love of his life, Veneta (Rawls) Kittle. The couple united in marriage on August 15, 1971, and Carl embraced his role as a father to Veneta's two sons, Randy and Keith.

Carl's professional life was diverse, working in insurance and factories in Marion, IL. However, it was his involvement in children's ministry at Second Baptist Church, that ignited a deep passion for service. Answering the call to ministry, Carl pursued and earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Gulf Shores Baptist Seminary in May 1990. His commitment to youth led him to serve as Youth Director at First Baptist Church in West Frankfort, IL, before heeding the call to move to South Dakota.

In South Dakota, Carl's pastoral journey began in White River at Lakota Chapel and continued in McLaughlin, Blunt, and Mitchell. His leadership and guidance were further recognized in Sioux Falls, where he served in the Dakota Baptist Convention until his well-deserved retirement. Retirement did not slow Carl down; he and Veneta relocated to Midlothian, TX, in 2001, where they enjoyed many happy years before returning to Blunt, SD, in 2010.

Carl's legacy is carried on by his loving family: sons Randy (Kamala) Kittle of Pierre, SD, and Keith (Kris) Kittle of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Makayla, Ryley, Rachel, and Megan; great-grandchildren Abbygail, Joshua, D.J., Lilianna, Travis, Ariana, and Annabelle; and a host of extended family members and friends who were touched by his generous spirit and compassionate heart.

Carl was preceded in departure by his cherished wife Veneta, his parents, and his grandson Ian Patrick Kittle. His life was a testament to his faith, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.

I was saddened to hear of Carl´s passing. He was my pastor in Blunt at Calvary Baptist Church when I was a kid. He officiated my grandmother´s funeral service in 2011. Sadly, that was the last time I had seen or spoken to him. He was such a kind, caring, wonderful soul. He will be very deeply missed always. Rest in peace Brother Carl.
