Carl "Glen" Stewart was born on June 24, 1955 in Spencer, Oklahoma to the late Deacon Oliver and Bertha Stewart. The third of six children, Glen was an active child in the church and accepted the Lord in to his life at a young age. Since then, he was always a man of God and instilled it in all values of life. He loved and showed the compassion to anyone and everyone and when it was time for God to call him home on October 15, 2025, he was surrounded by ones who loved him too.
Glen attended public schools in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was known for his athleticism at John Marshall High School. Playing basketball and football, he was known for his strength, gentle giant attitude and helping out his teammates whenever he could. From there, we earned a full ride scholarship to his alma mater, University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and played as a defensive lineman for the Golden Lions. Along with the friends and tackles he made, Glen was a dynamite soul; blasting Earth, Wind and Fire and The Chi-Lites wherever he went in his '57 Chevrolet. Gaining his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Glen started his adulthood.
He married his college girlfriend, Cheryll Stewart (Hughes) on June 19, 1985 and moved to Georgia three years later. From then on, they resided in Tucker, GA. On May 10, 1990, their first child, Zachary Oliver Stewart was born but was called home early to the Lord. 5 years later, on February 2, 1995, their second child, Carla Jamieka Stewart was born and since then, Glen became known as "Dad".
Actively, Glen attended his church home of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church since the early 90s. He sang in the Men's Choir but also was heavily apart of the Transportation Ministry. He picked up members of the church in a dedicated church van within the Metro Atlanta area, brought them to church, directed traffic to guide people out of the church parking lot, all while making the time to hear the word of the Lord every Sunday. He would
grab his small iPod mini, hook it up to the radio system, and play his gospel playlist for all of the church riders to listen.
While he worked on the ministry, he had met his second wife, late Khalidah Raheem – Stewart. From their shared love of music, football, and family values, they united in marriage in 2010. He then accepted her daughters as his own; Aya Acey, Assata Acey, Nzinga Acey, Yamani Raheem and Samirah Raheem. The two actively travelled and embarked on combining extended families, bringing people together with nurturing love, tough lessons and unmatched guidance. From going to the beach, to watching Monday Night football, and bringing the family together with homecooked meals and "which artist is the greatest of all time" debates, their union was unfathomable.
Glen worked in the oil fields at SunOil, an operations manager at DMX Music and an operations manager at Dish Network. But where he found his work family was at Ingenico Inc in Alpharetta, GA. He worked there as the Operations Warehouse Manager for 20 years and was dedicated to a team with coworkers he loved and adored dearly. He was an active listener to all music, old school and new school and every Friday, he would play his dedicated UAPB playlist for everyone to hear on their way home for the weekend.
Glen assisted so much with helping others. When it wasn't work, it was at home. He put others before himself. From helping take care of his wife's great aunt, to driving his daughters to school, calling in home to Oklahoma to check on family and staying at Khalidah's bedside until her passing in 2020; Glen made sure that everyone was well and taken care of before going on to the next task. Where he found leisure was going to the pier to fish, watching old movies, and as always, listening to his music. He would tell everyone the good stories of college and his love for football and but also engage in wisdom when times were tough. You'd hear from the mountaintops how much he loved his family and friends and he stood on that firmly. From being the only boy in a family full of sisters, to being a patriarch to a cast full of daughters, Carl Glen Stewart was your man of protection, guidance but most importantly, love.
Glen leaves his mother, Bertha Stewart; his sisters, Karen "Lynette" Polk, Erica "Lashawn" Stewart and Sandra "Gail" Everett; his children, Carla Jamieka Stewart, Aya Kamille Acey, Assata Sabara (Dan) Acey - Hickman, Nzinga Nadine Acey, Yamani Jahaan Raheem - Goode, and Samirah Umarah Raheem; his grandchildren, Khali Najima Ogandaga and Andrew Hickman and a lovely host of aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded by his wife; Khalidah Raheem – Stewart; his father, Oliver Stewart; his sisters, Sharon Joyce Carruthers and Patricia Diane McCoy and his son, Zachary Stewart.
