In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ed Swanson, David Swanson, Herman Swanson, and Jimmy Swanson; sisters, Emma Radford, and Betty Rhymer.
Surviving is his wife of fifty-eight years, Elaine Almond Swanson; a son, Paul "Tommy" Swanson (Kathy); a daughter, Mary "Carlene" Phillips; a brother, Henry Swanson; grandchildren, James Nelson (Keana), Haley Benton, Lexey Swanson, and Cassandra Marcus; great grandchildren, James Nelson II, Keanu Nelson, Katie Marcus, Todd Marcus, and Kal-el Benton.
No services are planned at this time.
