Carl L Thomas

Carl L. Thomas, 83, of Midland, died Monday, May 19, 2025, peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born on April 19, 1942, in Saginaw, to the late Fern E. Thomas, he lived his whole life in the Bullock Creek area. He graduated from Midland High School in June of 1960 as Bullock Creek High School had not yet been built. His many interests were with motorcycles, cars either the repairing or rebuilding of and racing. He enjoyed watching his grandkids in their many adventures. After retiring as a pipefitter in the sprinkler fire protection field he was able to enjoy many years of being warm in Florida during the winters.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Susan and his children Brian (Denise) Thomas of Freeland and Joy (Jesse) Stewart of Midland. His grandchildren Nathan Thomas of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Haleigh (Jace) Conley of Midland City, Alabama, Brandon Thomas of Clarkston, Carson Stewart of Midland. Special cousins Fay Vancise, Tom (Judy) Terwillegar, Connie (Harry) Swartzentruber, Tim (Renee) Terwillegar.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on May 22, 2025 at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on May 21, 2025 and from 9:30 until time of service at the church on Thursday. A private family graveside service will take place at Chapel Hill Mausoleum & Cemetery in Freeland.
