Walter "Walt" Edgar Allen, age 88, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Born on September 22, 1936, he was the cherished son of the late Edgar Allen and the late Dorothy Brooks Allen.
Walt chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. His years of service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism. He married Sylvia Wilson Allen, his beloved wife and they shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage, marked by unwavering support, mutual respect, and a profound love for one another. Walt worked as a Machinist for General Motors company for 35 years. After his retirement, he spent many days filled with joy and happiness with his family and his friends.
He had many hobbies that brought him joy, particularly woodworking and fishing. He enjoyed serving in his church, Old Pathway Baptist Church, where he found a deep connection with the Lord and with his brothers and sisters in Christ.
Walt leaves behind his loving wife, Sylvia Adeline Wilson Allen; daughters, Wendy Chapman, of Carrollton, Georgia and Annette McFarland, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sons & daughters-in-law, Jerry & Karen Allen, of Newnan, Georgia, and Jim & Linda Bosworth, of Midland, Michigan. He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and numerous extended family members that will remember him fondly.
A funeral service to be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home in Midland, MI. A private interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin, Michigan.
