I knew Carl when I first arrived in Houston in 1987. We became job hunting buddies and served as volunteers for helping persons to look for jobs in the chemical engineering and chemistry fields in the Houston area. We went together to Florida and he was a frequent visitor to my home and attended birthdays of my son. My deepest condolences to his wife and family.

To Carl's family and friends, Carl (That is the name we knew him by in Houston.) treasured and hungered for more relationship with you. He carried his love for you deep in his chest. Carl moved out of Houston in the early 1990s, and there are still people who ask, "Have you heard from Carl?" A friend once drove through Smithville and on the spur of the moment stopped to visit Carl. He guessed that Carl might be in the local library, so he looked up the library, drove over and, yep, Carl was there. Carl kept himself educated. Equally important was his family. He loved you.

My sympathy goes to you and your family. I was always in awe of Butch's intelligence and of his phenomenal vocabulary. It is difficult to lose a family member. Godspeed in your healing.

The picture brings memories of an ever present smile whether in class or asking to dance with my date at an armory dance. Butch called on his way through Nebraska to see if we could get together for coffee. Unfortunately I was out of town and we only talked for a minute. I wish that meeting had taken place. My prayers are with his family and friends!
