Carla Bock Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 8, 2025.
Carla Sue Bock (née Lensing), 63, passed away surrounded by family on March 7, 2025, in Whitestown, Indiana. She was born on August 16, 1961, in Lake City, Iowa, to Nancy and Vince Lensing and spent much of her life in the south suburbs of Chicago before relocating to Indiana to be near her grandchildren.
Carla dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a nurse and Clinical Documentation Specialist for 35 years at Palos Community Hospital before continuing in the same role at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis for five more years. After decades of compassionate service in the medical field, she retired in 2020.
Outside of work, Carla found joy in baking, sewing, playing cards, and reading. She loved cruises, afternoons at the casino, and trips to the movies. Most of all, she cherished time with her children and grandchildren, often spending her evenings driving "Grandma's Taxi Service" to get the grandkids where they needed to be. Her generous spirit and tasty desserts made everyone feel welcome, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Carla is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kevin; daughters Amanda Szymanski (Todd) and Jessica Brtva; stepdaughter Emily Bock Laws; grandchildren Katie, Tommy, and Andrew; sister Jodi Carey and brother Tom Lensing and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Vince Lensing, as well as her stepson Kenny Bock.
Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched. Carla loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in the arts. No services will be held at this time, as Carla did not want people to make a fuss about her. In her memory, donations can be made to your local dance studio, music education fund, or other organization that supports arts education.
