Carla Sue Gorecki of Deerbrook, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 18, 2023. She was 54 years old. Carla was born on January 21, 1969 in Medford, WI to the late Frank Zastrow and Carol (Hutto) Shidell.
She graduated from Wausau East High School and went on to attend Northcentral Technical College. She married Timothy Gorecki on July 16, 2010 in Gatlinburg, TN. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, caring for her family and fur babies. She was a true animal lover. She also had a talent for knitting and making gifts for people. She enjoyed camping in and around Sturgis, going to concerts, but also being at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was somebody who could always be counted on to listen and help regardless of the situation at hand. Carla was somebody you were lucky to know, and lucky to meet. Her heart was one of the biggest to be found and she wore it on her sleeve. Her smile and laughter was contagious and lit up the room.
In addition to her husband, Carla is survived by children, Jessica (Michael) Thurs of Mosinee, Amanda (Landon) Maatz of Walcott, ND, Deven Held of Rothschild, stepchildren, Samantha (Dustin) Radke of Wausau, Sydney Gorecki of Milwaukee, Tyler (Calla) Gorecki of Schofield, siblings, Jerry Zastrow of Ringle, Bobby (Marge) Zastrow of Bevent, Tammy (Rich) Ringler of Fort Meyers, FL, and Kristi Shidell of Wausau, 7 grandchildren, and her beloved dog babies, Bailey and Abbie.
In addition to her parents, Carla was preceded in death by her stepdad Robert Shidell and her loving dog Zoey.
In accordance with Carla's wishes, a celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.
