Carleen Marks Terhune, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2025, at her home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She was born on February 5, 1952, in Lafayette , Louisiana, the daughter of Carol Marks and Rita Darby Schenck.
Carleen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Terhune, and stepson Eric Terhune. She is survived by her three children, Christa Fontenot (wife, Rachael Fontenot), Brady White, and Benjamin White (wife, Shawna White), as well as her brother Michael Marks (wife, Phyllis Marks). Carleen was lovingly known as Honey to her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Carleen lived a life full of adventure that led her to become a paramedic, ski patrol member, sailor, and flight attendant. In her retirement, she embraced the open road, traveling the country in her RV before eventually settling in Lafayette, Louisiana, and later in Gulf Breeze, Florida, to be near her children. Carleen’s legacy endures in the independence, love, humor, and adventurous spirit she shared with all who knew her.
A memorial service honoring her life and those who loved her will be held at her home at 943 Coronado St. Gulf Breeze, FL 32563 on Saturday October 18th at 3pm. Following the celebration, the family will have a special ceremony at sea to release her remains.
