Carlene Gaskins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carlene Gaskins, of New Baltimore, who departed this world on April 26, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loved ones at Hospice of Hamilton. Born on February 24, 1950, in Louisville, KY, to Carl and Mary (Depoister) Wallace, Carlene's life was a testament to love and resilience.
Carlene met Charles "Buddy" Gaskins, while working at the Star Center Group Home, where their connection blossomed into a beautiful union on June 24, 1983. From that day forward, she became cherished not only by her husband but by the entire Gaskins family, who enveloped her in their unwavering support and affection.
Those who knew Carlene will forever remember her extraordinary passion for music; she possessed an impressive ability to recall the lyrics and artists of nearly any song, a talent that showcased her vibrant spirit. Her adoration for Elvis Presley brought joy to her life, and she eagerly shared that love with those around her. Carlene also had a gift for remembering birthdays, a testament to her thoughtfulness and the warmth she imparted to family and friends. An enthusiastic walker, Carlene relished her Monday shopping trips to Kroger, where she embraced the simple pleasures of life.
Carlene is survived by her devoted husband, Charles "Buddy" Gaskins; her siblings: Dean (Emily) Wallace and Glenda Bronson. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Greg Gaskins, Lisa Gaskins, Linda (Rick) Gaskins White, Penny (Rick) Hesse, and Chad (Jessica) Gaskins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including Shannon (Shane) Hodge, Misty (LeRoy) Deck, and Tina and Megan Wallace, along with a multitude of Gaskin nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom were touched by her kindness and love.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother-Dale Wallace, father-in-law & mother-in-law: Charles & Marie Gaskins; sister-in-law: Peggy Cummins & Vickey Gaskins.
As we reflect on Carlene's remarkable journey, we hold close the lessons she imparted to us-a reminder to cherish music, cultivate relationships, and embrace the beauty of life, no matter how simple it may seem. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. May she rest in peace.
