Carlos Lee Bagwell, age 93, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025,
in Alpharetta. He was born on March 4, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the late Forrest
and Addie (Massey) Bagwell.
Carlos spent his early childhood on the family farm in Apache, Oklahoma, where his lifelong
love of farming began. During the post-Depression years, the family moved frequently between
Apache and Alpharetta in search of better opportunities, eventually settling in Alpharetta when
Carlos was 18.
He attended Milton High School, later graduating from Oklahoma City High School, and upon
returning to Alpharetta, began working at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in 1951. He advanced
to become the supervisor of the tool crib and retired in 1990 after nearly four decades of
service.
In 1962, Carlos married Sandra Upshaw. Together they raised three sons-Kenneth, Keith, and
John-in the home Carlos's father built in Alpharetta in 1949. Their home was a place of love,
laughter, and warmth, and always open to family and friends. Carlos was a devoted member of
First Baptist Church of Alpharetta since 1953 and a member of the Alpharetta Masonic Lodge.
Carlos had a deep passion for farming. After long days at work, he could often be found on a
tractor in the hayfield, tending to his cows, or working in his vegetable garden. He even raised
chickens, staying connected to the land throughout his life.
A man of simplicity and humility, Carlos had a unique ability to connect with people of all ages.
Gentle and kind-hearted, he made friends wherever he went-at the cattle auction, the drug
store, or the Meal House. He was actively involved in the lives of his sons, forming bonds not
only with their friends but with their families as well.
In addition to his parents, Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Bagwell.
He is survived by his three devoted sons and nine cherished grandchildren:
Kenneth Bagwell (Jill) and their children Kayla Washington (Matthew), Jessica Bagwell,
and Jake Bagwell
Keith Bagwell (Megan) and their children Reed Bagwell and Mac Shryock
John Bagwell (Alison) and their children Caitlin Bagwell, Lindsey Bagwell, Josh
Bagwell, and Julianna Bagwell
A visitation will be held at on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. and on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Georgia. The funeral service to honor Carlos's life will follow at 1:00p.m. Interment will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment.
