Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel - RedlandsCarlos Castillo, known to his loved ones as "Chuck," passed away peacefully at home in Redlands, California on September 1, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with stomach cancer. He was 59.
Born in Pahokee, Florida, on December 13, 1965, and raised in Indiantown, Chuck graduated from South Fork High School in 1984. In 1988, he rode his motorcycle cross-country to California, hoping to find work and stay for a while — a journey that would change his life forever when he met Joelle, the love of his life. They built a beautiful life together in Redlands, marrying on May 17, 1996, and raising their family with laughter, hard work, and deep love.
Chuck was a man of many talents and even more heart. A proud and dedicated sheet metal worker, he was a member of Local 105 for 23 years, including 18 years as a journeyman. During slower times in construction, he didn’t hesitate to drive trucks or take on whatever work was needed to provide for his family. He believed in working hard — but also in living fully.
Known for his big laugh, bigger personality, and endless willingness to help, Chuck was the friend you called when something broke — all he asked for in return was a good meal. He loved racquetball, rock climbing, fishing, hiking, watching football (especially his beloved Miami Dolphins), and playing bass guitar. But above all, his greatest joy was his grandchildren. As "Trampa," he spent countless hours playing any and every game they dreamed up.
Chuck was a devoted Christian and a member of The Packinghouse Church in Redlands, where he volunteered in the children’s ministry so he could be near his granddaughters during class time.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joelle; their two children, Tyler and Jessica, and son-in-law Aldrich; four grandchildren, Kiley, Aaden, Raiden, and Phoenix; his siblings Joe and Patricia; nephews Eddie, Kyle, and Alex; niece Alycia; and many extended family members and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Julia Castillo, and his brothers Eddie and Jesse.
Chuck’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Packinghouse Church, 27165 San Bernardino Ave, Redlands, CA 92374.
He lived a life of laughter, service, and deep devotion to his family — a legacy that will live on in the countless lives he touched.
