Carlton Singleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnie P. Bragg Funeral Home, Inc. - Paterson on Dec. 17, 2025.
Carlton L. Singleton, affectionately known as Carl, was born on January 10, 1962, in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late Viola S. Singleton and Lenard Scott.
Carl attended Paterson public schools, including Eastside High School, and later earned his GED. He dedicated many years of his life to skilled labor and public service. Early in his career, he worked as a boilermaker for Passaic County and the Bergen County Board of Education. Carl later joined New Jersey Transit, where he faithfully served as a mechanic for more than twenty years before retiring. Carl will be remembered for his strong work ethic, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
A beloved younger brother, Carl, had a huge heart filled with love and compassion for his family and friends. Wherever there was a need, Carl was always there, ready to help in any way he could. He enjoyed camping and fishing, riding his motorcycle in earlier years, traveling to visit friends, and taking cruises.
In recent years, Carl faced various health challenges with courage and hope. Suddenly, on December 7, 2025, his big heart stopped beating, leaving us all far too soon. He will be deeply missed-his laughter, his bear hugs, and his warm smile will forever remain in our hearts.
Carl is survived by his loving siblings: two brothers, Marvin Dennison of Christchurch, New Zealand, and Matthew Dennison, Sr. of Paterson, New Jersey; two sisters, Mary Walker-Shanks of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Lenora Singleton of Oxon Hill, Maryland; and his brother-in-law, Samuel C. Shanks. He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Carl's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest easy, baby brother. Forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
