Carmel Jean Stage

Born to life on August 11, 1930, in Gillett, Wisconsin, one of nine children of Floyd and Johanna "Jennie" (nee Ehlinger) Jewell, Carmel was welcomed home into God's kingdom on July 22, 2025, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at age 94 years.

She was the loving wife for almost 50 years of the late John Stage, Jr. Carmel is the mother of the late Harold Stage, the late Frances Stage, Joseph Stage and Jeffrey Stage. She is further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, siblings other relatives and many friends.

Carmie was a loving and caring person. She loved to cook and turned that into a career as she worked as a cook in the Milwaukee Public Schools System for years. Her holiday meals were anticipated favorites among the family. A knitter, she spent much of her free time knitting hats for the infants in the NICU unit at the hospital, along with making slippers, hats and sweaters for family and friends. Carmie also liked country and western music and relaxed by playing solitaire. She was a devout catholic and lived her life as best she could within the parameters of her faith.

Visitation will be held for Carmel on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11:00am until the time of the funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon, all at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 5101 West Center Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53210.

Please remember Carmel in your prayers.

I worked with Carmel at MPS. She was a kind and caring person, and loved the children for whom she cooked each school day. I only learned of her death today, when I received my Employee Retirement System monthly statement. I would have been proud to have attended the services on July 31 if I had known.

Please accept my sincere sympathy.
