It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carmela “Carmi” Allen, 87, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Carmi passed away peacefully, at Mulberry Gardens Memory Care on September 12, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Don Allen; children, Chuck, Donny and Lisa; daughter-in-law, Barb; sister, Elaine Innocenzi; parents, Juanita and James Giustino, and stepmother, Winnie Giustino.
Carmi is survived by her children, Mark (Terri) and Aimee (Ron) Westren; siblings, Jamie (Sonya) Giustino, Chris (Donna) Stafford, Sheri (Paul) Pynckel; grandchildren, Jessica Allen, Anthony (Allison) Allen, Tricia (Tom) Kranshan, Samantha Allen, Desiree (Lenny) Bickett, Ryan Westren, Christopher (Emily) Merring, Christy (Vinny) Ursetti, Matthew Merring, Tyler Westren, Dee (Scott) Durbin, Dennis Perdue, Donald Allen; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Carmi worked for General Tire for 34 years, but her true passion was her family. She loved making pasta for Sunday dinners, celebrating holidays, and upholding family traditions. A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, she always cheered them on with pride. Whether dancing, sharing a glass of wine, vacationing at the beach, or laughing with loved ones, Carmi's joy was infectious, and she was rarely seen without a smile on her face.
Her family and friends will forever cherish the warmth, love, and laughter she brought to their lives. Carmi will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the cherished memories of those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
