It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carmen Delores Hoffman Cable, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2025, in Fresno, California. She was born on May 22, 1926, in Inglewood, California.

Carmen was the beloved mother of five children, born to her and her late husband, Harry Joseph: Linda Joseph Duncan of Fresno, Susan Joseph Dusi (deceased), Toni Joseph Vanderwege (Chuck, San Jose), Julie Joseph Koop (deceased) (Kenneth, Fresno), and Gregory Anthony Joseph (Tina, Colorado).

She was also the cherished stepmother to Craig and Dave Cable of Fresno.

Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren:Robert Denton Duncan (deceased), Jennifer Southern (Fresno), Tom Vanderwege (San Jose).Tina Vanderwege Buller (Texas), John Griffin (Helendale), Jaime Joseph Beard (Colorado), Gregory Joseph (Texas), Lindsay Joseph (Colorado).

Carmen was the proud great-grandmother of eleven: Misty, Hailey, Hannah, Jonah, Jenna, Landrie, Faith, Trinity, Tristan, Logan, and Tyler, as well as the joyful great-great-grandmother of nine. She also enjoyed the love and affection of her 21 nieces and nephews, who deeply adored her.

Born and raised in the Inglewood/Maywood area of Los Angeles County, Carmen married Harry Joseph in 1942. They raised their five children in West Covina before relocating to Big Bear Lake in 1966, where they operated the Campus Donut Shop for a decade. Carmen was a devoted homemaker, but she also played a significant role in the shop, preparing her famous pot roast, pork roast, and meatloaf, while also serving as a waitress and cashier. The shop became a beloved community hub, especially for local firemen, law enforcement, and public works employees, who knew they could always find a warm welcome and a fresh cup of coffee.

After leaving Big Bear, Carmen moved to San Bernardino, where she worked as a bookkeeper at San Bernardino Junior College before transferring to Saddleback Junior College. She worked in the Financial Aid Department for 12 years before retiring.

In 1988, Carmen and her beloved second husband, Fred Cable, moved to Fresno, where they enjoyed boating trips aboard their vessel, How Sweet It Is, to Catalina Island and along the Southern California coast. They were charter members of Copper River Country Club, loyal Fresno State Bulldog fans, and treasured their time with dear friends.

Carmen was a woman of deep faith and an active member of NorthWest Church in Fresno. She was a dedicated participant in Prison Fellowship Ministries and the Timothy Program, where she helped lead many women to the Lord. Her faith, love, and strength left an enduring impact on all who knew her.

Carmen's life was defined by her love for family, her generous spirit, her devotion to service, and her unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of Carmen's life will be held at Northwest Church on
Saturday, October 25th at 10am in the Worship Center.

Donations to Northwest Church in her name are appreciated.
