Carmen Flores

Carmen Flores, 79 of Parlin, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Saturday, November 10, 1945 in Moca, Puerto Rico, Carmen was the daughter of the late Martin and Cirila Serrano. When Carmen was 8 years old her family moved to Brooklyn. She would spend the majority of her life there. She would meet and marry Juan Flores and the couple would raise their children in Brooklyn. After Juan's passing Carmen settled in Parlin. Carmen was a devout Catholic. She spent a lot of time volunteering at church and being a part of the community. She was a member of the Daughters of Mary, and also Choir Director for her church in Brooklyn. Carmen enjoyed spending time gardening. More than anything Carmen loved being with her family, and will be missed by all those that love her. Carmen was predeceased by her husband, Juan, and by her siblings, Alfredo Serrano and Aida Muniz. Carmen is survived by her longtime companion, Lucio Hernandez, by her loving children, Idys Bonilla and her husband Nataneal, and John Flores and his wife Michele, by her brother Luis Serrano, by her grandchildren, Justin Flores, Melissa Gonzalez, Breanna Bonilla, and Matthew Smith, ad by her great grandchildren, Lorenzo, Julian, Giovanni, and Avianna. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. During this time a prayer service will take place at 6:00 pm. Burial services will take place on Friday at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, NY.
