Carmen Stanton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Feb. 1, 2025.
Carmen Jeannette Stanton, a devoted wife, mother, and cherished member of the Bartlesville community, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2025. Born on February 23, 1943, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Gene and Ruth Brown, Carmen lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to both her family and her community.
A 1961 graduate of College High School in Bartlesville, Carmen's path was one of ambition and accomplishment. In 1968, she founded Career Employment Services Inc., a beloved local employment agency that became known as a trusted resource for job-seekers. Through her leadership, Carmen helped hundreds of clients secure new opportunities, contributing to the well-being of countless families in the area. She was also proud to be one of the first women elected to the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where her passion for making a difference in her community was evident.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carmen was a passionate volunteer and dedicated fundraiser. She was an active member of the Washington County American Red Cross, a board member of Give Back America, and part of the Green Country Pilot Club, all organizations that benefited greatly from her tireless efforts.
In addition to her commitment to her work and community, Carmen had a love for adventure and travel. She and her high school sweetheart and husband, Chuck Stanton, married on July 22, 1961, and together they shared a love for the outdoors. Their many hunting trips to locations like British Honduras, Nevada, and Texas, among many other places, became some of their most treasured memories. Carmen's love for life extended to her hobbies, where she enjoyed exquisite cuisine with friends in the Gourmet Food Club, and spent many peaceful days boating and creating lasting memories at her lake house at Grand Lake, a place filled with joy for Carmen and her family since 1995.
Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chuck, her parents Gene and Ruth Brown, and her daughter-in-law Lu Stanton. She is survived by her son Jim Stanton and daughter-in-law Casey; her sister Barbara Pearson and husband Don of Oklahoma City; her brother-in-law James Edwin Stanton and wife Elizabeth of Tulsa; her niece Jennifer Roney and husband Chad of Glenpool; her niece Katie Suarez and husband Julio of Oklahoma City; her nephew Sam Stanton and wife Ashley of Glenpool; her nephew Jason Pearson of Austin; her great-nieces Carolyn Suarez, Adelyn Stanton, Abigail Roney, and Brooklyn Roney, Loveland Stanton; and her great-nephews Matthew Suarez, Caleb Suarez, Chandler Roney, and Braden Stanton. Pallbearers will be Caleb Cunningham, Caleb Suarez, Matthew Suarez, Sam Stanton, Rick Neal, Jim McMillian
A visitation will be held at Stumpff Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, February 5th, at 11:00 AM.
Carmen's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community will forever be remembered.

My husband and I both grew up here in Bartlesville and knew Carmen's parents. What a fine legacy she had in them. Carmen helped MANY find needed employment. She married Chuck(a fellow Col-Hi graduate)
Together, they served our community. Carmen was a gracious person. She will be missed. Ruthie and Larry Dennis
